Paramount's
Class Schedule!

October ~ November ~ December 2009

Everyone's a Star!“Everyone's a Star!”

Nita is back from her extended trip to Germany, just in time to teach this 4 month quilt class. It’s going to be a fun one! Nita is going to provide the background fabric. You will bring your own fabrics for the stars so you can customize it to your favorite colors. You will also cut out your own pieces (a real departure from the usual Quilt Block of the Month that we have done for so many years). Basic piecing skills are all that’s required.
Dates: This class meets every 2nd Thursday for 4 months
Thursdays, Sept 10, Oct 8, Nov 12 & Dec 10
Three times are available:

10 am - 1 pm
2 pm - 5 pm
6 pm - 9 pm
Tuition: $60 total

A new technique for reversible appliqué - all done in the embroidery hoop! Use the provided design on a fleece blanket, a terry cloth towel or a purchased blanket. The design will be finished in both the front and the back side, all in a single hooping. This duckling matches the ducklings in the Darling Duckies Quilt, but is slightly larger in size.
Date: Saturday, October 17; 10 am - 4 pm
Tuition: $25 includes design

French Braid Tablerunner
French Braid Tablerunner

This beautiful technique is easier than you might think, and the results are stunning! The most challenging part is choosing your fabrics. In class, we will learn the technique, cut our fabrics, and assemble the table runner top. For those who work quickly, there may be time to layer your runner and begin quilting, but this is a workshop class where everyone will feel comfortable regardless of their skill level — you do need to know how to sew an accurate 1/4” seam and how to use a rotary cutter.
Date: Saturday, November 14
Tuition: $28
Instructor: Margaret Ferguson

Let’s Build A ShelfLet’s Build A Shelf

You will be “building” a book shelf the size and style of your choosing. This stunning project is based on a book by Wendy Etzel called “The Collectibles Quilt II”. The book is out of print, but we will tell you where you can get a copy. Techniques and materials will be discussed and demonstrated at Session 1 (you must bring your book to the first session), then you will have 3 weeks to collect your supplies. Session 2 is where you will build your “units” from which your completed shelf will be made. Prerequisite: you only need basic sewing skills and how to do a zigzag or appliqué stitch with your machine. Although you might see some machine embroidery in Margaret’s sample, an embroidery machine is completely optional. Margaret has assured us this project is easier than it looks, and with her experience and help you’ll end up with a fabulous shelf to call your own! Even if you’re not taking this class, you simply must come and see this amazing project!
Dates:

Session 1:
Saturday, October 10
2 pm - 4 pm
Session 2:
Saturday, October 31
10 am - 4 pm
Tuition: $35 for both sessions
