Quilt Piecing 1,2,3 - Eugene

Are you curious about piecing? Do you want to learn where to start? This is the class for you. Come learn the 1,2,3s of quilt piecing by making a table runner top. Create three different strawberries which offer a variety of techniques to learn.

Preparing to Create:

  • To keep the project simple, start with fabrics that are batiks, small non-directional prints and/or solids
  • Only use 100% cotton
  • Fabric preparation:
    • If you choose to, wash all fabrics before class
    • Press all your fabric
Supplies Needed:
  • Fabric for First Class:
    • Yellow Batik - 1 yard
    • Assorted Red Prints - 1 fat quarter each of at least 5 different fabrics
    • Assorted Green Prints - 1 fat quarter total
  • Trread: Quality cotton piecing thread 40 or 50 wt.
  • Sewing Machine and components to make it run
  • 1/4" piecing foot with or without the guide (optional)
  • Snips or small scissors for thread trims
  • 45mm Rotary Cutter with sharp blade
    • OPTIONAL: Travel cutting mat and ruler
  • Seam Remover
  • Wonder Clips
  • New Sewing Machine Needle: Quilting 75/11, 80/12 Universal or 80/12 Topstitch
  • Removable Marking Tool: Pen, chalk, pencil--your choice need to be visible on your three colors of fabric
Following not Needed for First Class, but USED to Finish Project:
  • Batting: 20" X 60"
  • Backing: 20" X 60" or scraps to make a scrappy backing
  • Binding: 1/3 yard or scraps to make scrappy binding
