Camp Shirt

Would you like some garment sewing experience without a months-long commitment? Come make a camp shirt for summer. Combine a fun print with an easy pattern and Winifred tips for success—you’ll be wearing it to the next BBQ! We’ll determine the correct size and do any minor pattern alterations. Then we’ll cut out the shirt and interfacing, fuse the interfacing and transfer any markings to the pieces. Then we’ll sew the shirt from beginning to the last button!

Please bring all of these supplies to class, and be sure to put your name on all items you bring (just in case they are left behind).

• Pattern: Butterick 6846 (Talk to Winifred first; if you have another camp shirt pattern already, it must have a yoke.)
• 60” measuring tape
• Scotch tape (preferably the green plaid type!)
• Paper scissors, fabric scissors or rotary cutter and mat
• 2” X 12”  quilting ruler
• Pencil & paper for taking notes 
• Pattern tracing paper
• Fabric for the shirt, pre-shrunk, pressed and ready to cut out, preferably cotton or linen or cotton/linen blend
• Fabric marking tool (contrasting color to your fabric)
• Glass head silk pins (or other good quality sewing pins)
• Interfacing for the shirt, fusible non-woven types
• Sewing machine and everything you need to use it (power cord, foot control, presser feet, bobbins, spool cap, etc. )
• 80/12  Microtex needles
• Good quality construction thread, cotton or polyester (thread should match color of shirt)
• Utility/Zigzag/Basic sewing foot, Edgestitch foot, Buttonhole foot, Button sewing foot (optional)
• Buttons for the shirt
• Fabric Scissors, small scissors or snips
• Seam ripper
• Glue stick
• ¼” double-sided fusible tape optional
